Andrew Coleman, Consummate Professional
My
hometown is a sheltered city in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up learning to
respect hard work, dedication and responsibility. My first job was working at
KFC where I learned how to enjoy work even at its worst. My first profession
was auto parts at a local store. Customers taught me how to walk away from a
situation without compromising myself, my ideals and my coworkers. They also
taught me that sales isn’t just about your product, but how you’ve presented
it. Sales is a way of life where the goal is to make people believe in you and
to make customers want what you have. These are the lessons I gathered from
sales that can be attributed to everyday life that can be tested every day. In
College I languished in the politics of my professors and hated the ivory tower
of academia. I returned to the auto parts store and was promoted twice while
attending community college. Now I would like to return to school and treat my
education like a job. After completing my term of service I will receive an
education award.
